Ancient AstronautsEXTRATERRESTRIALS ON EARTHExplore the findings that have some believers insisting that aliens may have visited the planet Earth long ago.The 2000-year-old Antikythera Mechanism is an ancient “computer” that probably aided navigators by charting the motions of the solar system. The artifacts known as the Baghdad Batteries, generally dated to around 250 B.C., are theorized to have produced electricity, 2000 years before its accepted discovery.Using current technology it is very difficult to extract nuclear DNA from ancient bone but in the near future it may be possible to sequence large parts of this code. While some say that the Piri Reis map, created in 1513, depicts the ice-free coast of Antartica thousands of years ago, it is more generally accepted that it is simply the distorted western coast of South America.Erich von Däniken wrote his bestselling novel, Chariots of the Gods, while working at a Swiss hotel.Erich von Däniken created a theme park exploring alternative explanations of the ancient world in Interlaken, Switzerland. It is called Mystery Park. The Starchild skull was found 60-70 years ago but its anomalies went unstudied until it came into Lloyd Pye’s hands. The Starchild probably suffered from hydrocephaly, a condition where excess spinal fluid is not properly absorbed, causing the skull to grow abnormally large. The geoglyphs on the floor of the Pampa Colorado desert in Peru, the so-called Nazca Lines, cover 37 miles. In 1982 Joe Nickell recreated one of the largest of the Nazca line drawings, the 440-foot Condor, in a cornfield in Kentucky thereby proving that it was entirely possible to create the drawings without benefit of aerial survey. The massive stones that were used to build Tiahuanaco were probably ferried from the quarry across Lake Titicaca in reed boats. The largest cut stone in the world is the Hajar el Hibla, the so-called “Stone of the Pregnant Lady.” It weighs over 1000 tons. The Roman ruins at Baalbek contain a layer of three stones called the Trilithon. Each of the stones weighs 800 tons. Some argue that the pyramids of Giza are arranged in relation to the Nile in such a way as to replicate the position of the stars in Orion’s belt in relation to the Milky Way.Producer/WriterNANCY DONNELLYEditorJAY DANNER-MCDONALDNarratorIAN GREGORYVideographersHOWARD SHACKNICHOLAS BLAIRNEVE CUNNINGHAMNICK GARDNERMICHAEL ROGERSField ProducerOWEN PALMQUISTSeries CoordinatorLEAH RAMSAYOriginal MusicMOLLUSC MUSICGraphicsRICARDO ANDRADENICHOLAS JERNIGANMain Title DesignCITIZEN PICTURESStock FootageBettman/CORBISHistorical Picture Archive/CORBISNASAGetty Images/Image BankGetty Images/Archive FilmBBC Motion GalleryFortean Picture LibraryZecharia SitchinKUATArt ResourceEngel EntertainmentBuyOutFootage.comLegendary TimesMystery Park LLGStreamlineTed StrainWGBHWPACORBIS MotionSpecial ThanksLloyd & Amy PyeRay & Melanie YoungNancy ReedGiorgio TsoukalosJoe NickellKen FederErich von DänikenBill RodriguezJason EshlemanJa ShiaOur Alien AncestorsBay Area Video CoalitionKevin MathesonCallie StolbachProduction ManagerJESSICA MILHOLLIN CUTLERProduction CoordinatorsCINDY KITTNERHEATHER TVETERSeries ResearcherAARON EVENPost-Production SupervisorROCHELLE BADEN DUBROWAPost-Production ManagersTARYN LUNTZBRETT REINKEAssistant EditorsRYAN WALKERAMY MCCARTERPost Production CoordinatorANDREW CHUDirector of ResearchTODD HERMANNPost Production Facilities and Operations ManagerJULIA WHITCOMBArt and Animation DirectorRICARDO ANDRADEDirector of Production Rights and ClearancesCATHERINE YELLOZDirector of Production Operations & ManagementBEVERLEY MARECHEAU MITCHELLDirector of Post-ProductionCHICO ARNALDO-GUIZARSeries ProducerVICKY MATTHEWSSenior ProducerFRENCH HORWITZExecutive ProducerELEANOR GRANTFor National Geographic ChannelExecutive ProducerKATHLEEN CROMLEYSenior Vice President of ProductionMICHAEL CASCIOExecutive in Charge of ProductionJOHN B. SUCKING OUT THE TRUTH“Chupacabras” literally means “goat sucker,” but the creature is purported to attack much more than goats, including chickens, birds, dogs, horses, and sheep. Some theories of what the Chupacabras may be include: a prehistoric dinosaur animal, a top secret genetic manipulation project gone awry, a demon, or a UFO experiment. While reports of the Chupacabras' physiology vary, many say that the creature has glowing red eyes, is about 3-4 feet in stature, and has small membrane-like wings.Mutilated animals that are reported as victims of the Chupacabras are usually reported to be missing their blood, and to have two puncture wounds to the neck area.“El Chupacabras” is a singular, not necessarily a plural, word. In Spanish, compound words such as this very often include a plural term, even when the resulting word is singular. Examples from the Spanish language include "correcaminos" ("road-runner") and "lavapiés" ("feet washing").“Chupacabras” closely resembles the Spanish word “Chotacabras,” which in English is “Nightjar.” Nightjars are nocturnal birds with an almost supernatural reputation stemming from their silent flight and mythical ability to steal milk from goats.Nightjars are sometimes referred to as goat suckers from the mistaken belief that they suck milk from goats. The study of the “Chupacabras” generally falls under Cryptozoology. Cryptozoology is the study of rumored or mythological animals that are presumed (at least by the researcher) to exist, but for which conclusive proof does not yet exist; or are generally considered extinct, but occasionally reported.Bigfoot, the Skunk Ape, Loch Ness Monster, and the Yowie are other examples of Cryptozoological creatures. The Chupacabras was first reported in Puerto Rico in the mid-90s.Soon after the reports in Puerto Rico, strange animal deaths and Chupacabras sightings began to be reported in the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, the United States, and Mexico.A New Mexico man kicking through the dirt of the West Mesa found the small cadaver of what appeared to be a Chupacabras. He put the specimen in a box, and took it with him to his construction job-sites to scare and amuse colleagues, until the creature was finally identified as a type of Ocean Skate. The UNAN (National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, Leon) holds the skeletal remains of a supposed Chupacabras cadaver submitted for analysis. The UNAN determined that the cadaver was that of a common dog.In Canovanas, Puerto Rico, in the mid-90s, the Canovanas Emergency Management Department responded to the fears of the community by sending a search squad into the forest to look for the Chupacabras. The Chupacabras was not seen or captured on this hunt. The Chupacabras reached such heights of popularity in the mid-90s as to appear on t-shirts and bumper-stickers, in songs, and as the star of various television shows, including X-Files.
Is The "Smoking Gun" of UFO/Alien Research At Hand?by Dan McWilliams Posted: 12:00 September 4, 2009What was it about the "Starchild Skull" that warranted the ensuing campaign to learn the truth about it? Today the field of UFO/alien research is little different from the imaginary world of Harry Potter. A small minority of “wizards” accept at least the possibility, if not the reality, of otherworldly existence. Wizards are opposed by a vast majority of “muggles” with attitudes about the unknown or unacceptable that range from vapid disinterest to seething outrage. The middle ground is a contentious war zone because both sides lack definitive proof of their position. Wizards have countless examples of “almost” solid proof, while muggles insist that “extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.”Well, guess what? The required extraordinary proof is now claimed to be a proverbial “smoking gun” in the hands of researcher Lloyd Pye, a wizard well-known to fans around the world from many appearances on television shows and radio interviews. Pye presents his extraordinary claims and defends them in a new eBook called “The Starchild Skull Essentials.” (Free sample available at: www.starchildproject.com/starchild_ebook.htm.)“I’ve been collecting information about the Starchild skull for ten years now,” Pye explains. “Piece by piece from here and there, never actually seeing it as a congealed whole. But when I sat down to write this new eBook, gathering it all together into one tight knot just blew me away. I realized as never before how incredibly powerful the totality of it is. It actually establishes ‘proof’ that the Starchild could not possibly have been a human deformity. It really is the ‘smoking gun’ of UFO and alien research.”Pye’s report of extraordinary evidence to support his extraordinary claim is certain to be fighting words for the mass of muggles who tend to attack the credibility of anyone who challenges their reigning paradigms, so Pye knows his assertions will be met head-on. “Oh, sure, scientists and other defenders of the mainstream faith will balk at first,” Pye acknowledges. “But this time they have no leg to stand on. This time they lose, we win.”His assurance stems from the fact that genetics is at the heart of his proof. “DNA analysis is utterly precise,” he explains, “as precise as math. In fact, genetics is the mathematics of biology. It leaves absolutely no room for argument by anyone. If 50 people say a person committed a crime and DNA says they didn’t, they’ll walk. That’s the power of genetics, to provide us with the amazing proof we can now unleash on an unsuspecting world.”Admittedly, the mass of photographic evidence in Pye’s eBook can appear overwhelming to untrained eyes because it all seems so convincing. “It’s convincing because it’s real,” he insists. “There is no smoke and mirrors here, no photoshopping, nothing but unaltered photo after photo after photo proving again and again exactly how far away the Starchild skull was from normal humans. Taken as a whole, stacked up like cordwood, these facts can be intimidating, but they are also undeniable. I guarantee they are.”Pye’s claim of proof of at least one alien being living and dying on earth 900 years ago is as extraordinary as they come, but he is surprisingly sanguine about it. “I’ve known since 2003, when a primer-based DNA test was performed on the Starchild’s DNA. That test established that it had a human mother and a non-human father, but in 2003 we couldn’t prove how far away the father was from a normal human. Without that evidence we were hamstrung, unable to make any definitive claims about it. Now, though, all of that has changed. Now we have a test that can prove our case beyond any scientific doubt.”That test is an extremely sophisticated DNA analysis technique pioneered by 454 Life Sciences of Branford, Connecticut. It permits the recovery of an entire genome, which is all of the DNA strands of a living being. In humans that is roughly 3.0 billion base pairs. “What we’ll do,” Pye explains, “is compare every base pair in the Starchild’s DNA with those in humans, chimps, gorillas, and even Neanderthals, which are nearly sequenced right now. When we can do that, we’ll be able to show as precisely as a mathematical formula exactly how far away the Starchild’s DNA is from all of the others.”How far does Pye expect the Starchild’s DNA to stray from normal humans? His answer is blunt and volatile. “It can’t be anywhere near humans. Chimps are 3% different, while gorillas are 5%. Neanderthals could be anywhere between chimps and humans. Yet when you see the evidence of Starchild differences stacked up like cordwood in the new eBook, you realize it has to surpass a gorilla! The Starchild is not even close to being human.”This statement seems impossible because the Starchild’s DNA proves it had a human mother, but Pye has a surprising answer for that. “Most people think hybrids have to be the result of a sexual union. That’s not true. Sophisticated genetic engineering can create a being with alien nuclear DNA transplanted into a human female egg, and the resulting being would have human mitochondrial DNA from its mother and nuclear DNA from either an alien father, or even a pair of alien parents. In genetics anything is possible.”Is Lloyd Pye correct in making his extraordinary claims? Does he have the requisite extraordinary proof? He says he does and he says it is available for anyone to evaluate in his new eBook, “Starchild Skull Essentials.” If anyone is inclined to take him up on his challenge, he offers a free sample at www.starchildproject.com/starchild_ebook.htm.Dan McWilliams is a long-time researcher into UFO and related phenomena.
